PI Worldwide finds a full-service HR partner in CR+T

PI Worldwide is an international management consulting organization that enables companies to be more successful by focusing on their most important asset — their people. Using a proven, proprietary management tool known as the Predictive Index®, the company helps clients align individual performance with their specific business goals. For organizations of all types, from banks to sports teams, family businesses to Fortune 50 corporations, this validated, scientific approach offers improved bottom-line performance, productivity and profitability.

A family-owned and operated business with a 50 year history of success, the company is currently run by Dinah Daniels, daughter of the founder.

In 1999, PI Worldwide conducted an employee attitude study. While the feedback did not come as a complete surprise to Daniels, it was cause for concern. She explains, “The survey revealed that while employees thought I was a good leader, they didn’t think I was a very good manager. My decisions regarding employees were often perceived as arbitrary.”

She knew that the company needed to put policies in place that would give people confidence that they were being treated equally and fairly, and thought an HR consultant could help. A colleague referred her to CR+T, Inc., and Barry Rubenstein.

“He knew how to make it happen.”
Rubenstein was charged with all aspects of HR at PI Worldwide, from instituting policies and procedures to dealing with benefits, compensation, and hiring. Daniels and her management team realized his value immediately. “Barry is knowledgeable and professional. But most important, he has a very good way of dealing with all of our employees; that was obvious from the beginning.”

“He was able to help us make a big change in our financial management department, which was a great benefit to the company. He just knew how to make it happen,” Daniels says. “In addition, he brought in outside research on compensation, which was extremely helpful; people could feel confident that they were being fairly compensated according to industry standards.”

Most important to Daniels is that “Barry has taken all of the employee relations issues off my desk. He deals extremely well with our people, and they have confidence that he is offering the best and most current advice. He is an articulate and comforting communicator — even when delivering bad news.”

“Part of our team.”
Daniels appreciates Rubenstein’s seamless interaction with the company. “He is our partner and he is a part of our team. From the outside looking in, you’d never know that he isn’t a full-time employee.” On a larger scale, she credits Rubenstein with “creating a pathway to growth that we didn’t have before; he’s helped us put a business model in place that can scale up as we grow. And he’s guided us on a critical journey from a personally-run, family company to a personal, but professionally-run company.”

“We have a full-service HR department without a department full of employees. As for Barry’s compensation, I never give it a second thought. It is money well spent and he is worth every penny!”

Will PI Worldwide continue to use Rubenstein’s services? “Absolutely,” Daniels says. “As we face new challenges, we’re counting on him to guide us.”
